Writings of a Bibliophile

So as I usually find myself stating, books really need to start reading themselves. With college comes a lot of responsibilities (oh like how I went all Spider Man on you there guys) but at the same time, I'm finding I have a lot more free time to read. I then, however, tell myself that I need to add more and more books to my 'To Be Read' list. And so this happened.














First up is Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. I'm not going to say too too much about this book since it is a sequel to an ongoing series but basically it's about a female assassin and awesome stuff like that. I powered through Throne of Glass and am really loving the new dynamic Crown of Midnight has created. And the world building, goodness me, the world building is fantastic. Okay I'm going to move onto the next book before I spoil the whole series.














Now we have Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I'm about 200 pages in and I'm loving every word of it. Being a freshman in college like Cath, I connect to her already just with that. I also write fanfiction and fangirl and do a lot of the things Cath says she does. I think she's pretty freaking fantastic and seriously relateable. And LEVI. Can I just have Levi for Christmas this year? I want a hot lanky guy that will listen/read my fanfiction! He's so supportive I just want him to be real. So yes, I'm thinking I'll be doing a review of this pretty soon and hopefully reading other books by Rainbow Rowell since this is my first.














Next is the Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. I have read this book the least. I'm only about sixty pages in and I'm liking it well enough. It's basically about a girl who runs away on her wedding day and the prince she was supposed to marry as well as an assassin who is hired to kill her. I do have one question that may be explained further in the book, why on Earth would there be an assassin hired to kill her if it was known that the prince/fiance was already on his way to try and bring her back? I DON'T UNDERSTAND. Oh well, maybe once I get more into it they'll tell me but for now I'll be confused. I must say I adore the writing; first person is one of my absolute favorite point of views to read in fiction and Mary Pearson is on point.















Now is The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason. I picked this up back in high school from my school's library and unfortunately could not finish it before I had to return it. I loved it when I was reading it and wanted to buy it but it, at the time, was an absolute bear to find. My Barnes and Noble would always say it had it in stock, I'd make the ten minute drive and guess what, nope don't have it. This happened on three separate occasions so I just gave up. Also, amazon had it for a stupid expensive price and I didn't know what the Book Depository was until recently. Now I have it from my local library (good job, why didn't you think to look there six months ago, Marisa) and am wanting to pick up where I have left off but I want to finish some other books first.


















Can I just say that this cover for Jane Eyre that I just found is BEYOND GORGEOUS. Ugh the Penguin Drop Caps redone covers are to die for (I'm currently drooling over the one for Pride and Prejudice) and so I figured I'd give you guys something pretty to look at while you read my rambling. So Jane Eyre by Charolotte Bronte. I have heard nothing but good things about this classic and it sounds right up my alley also I really want to watch the Michael Fassbender movie of this and told myself I couldn't until I read the book. I picked up a used copy at my local book store for like $1.00 just in case I was like some weird alien who didn't like this book. So I shall tell you all how I feel about it in my wrap up!

















Fun fact about being friends with your old high school's librarian, she will invite you to meet authors and it will be awesome. I got to meet Adi Alsaid when he visited my alma mater. He spoke about his writing process and how Let's Get Lost came to be. I've heard a lot about it and am in love with the premise of it being told from all these different perspectives. It's pretty much about a girl named Leila and she encounters these people along her road trip to see the Northern Lights. I am really excited to dive into this book because a good contemporary is going to be a nice break from all the fantasy I'm wanting to read.
